The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in one of 17 majors is a dual-qualification program, a collaboration between the UK National Qualifications Framework with the Swiss Education system. PhD is the highest scientific and academic qualification in Business Administration.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in one of 17 majors program focuses on knowledge-intensive research in management and business administration. It has 2 stages (1) the learning phase and research in-depth issues of the organization with 8 modules; and (2) research phase and form a career-oriented applied doctoral thesis.

Through the process of study and research, students not only acquire scientific research competency (a mandatory competency at the Doctoral level) but also develop profound and in-depth knowledge within every facet of business operations. This forms the foundation for conducting in-depth research and teaching within their passionate fields and industries.

Upon completing majors courses in business fields and managerial activities, the program aims at advanced research to generate new theories applicable to the industry and field that students are researching or teaching. Doctoral candidates can select the PhD majors (according to the list) upon graduation. Majors are shown right on the qualifications and transcript.

Upon graduation, students will receive: 

  • Level 8 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice from the Ofqual UK.Gov Awarding Body OTHM.
  • Doctor of Philosophy in one of 17 majors from SIMI Swiss.

The distinctions in accreditation and recognition:

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Majors program is a dual-qualification program where students will receive two independent Doctor’s qualifications upon completion. This program is a collaboration between the Ofqual UK.Gov Awarding Body OTHM and SIMI Swiss.

  • SIMI is fully accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) at the highest level (Premier Institution) and the Doctor of Philosophy in Majors program is accredited by Ofqual UK.Gov Awarding body (OTHM).
  • OTHM is a national-level examination and qualification system in the United Kingdom, accredited and recognized by Ofqual.

Learning Model:

SIMI programs offer a Fully Online or Hybrid learning model (conditionally applied), allowing students to study with original programs from Switzerland and partner countries. The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Majors Dual Qualifications (By Coursework) program consists mandatory modules and a PhD Dissertation, totaling 300 UK credits, lasting a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years. In addition to completing the PhD Dissertation, doctoral candidates receive guidance in publishing international papers in journal systems affiliated with ISI/SCOPUS.

Assessment and Verification:

All subjects of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Majors Dual Qualifications (By Coursework) program are evaluated by the London Academy of Sciences, the accreditation system and its partners are the OTHM UK. Learners must demonstrate mastery of knowledge and attain the competencies detailed in the program Syllabus. 

In addition to the entry requirements, candidates applying to the program are also assessed for their suitability by the admissions committee before joining the program to ensure that they can acquire and benefit from the program.

Entry requirements:

To enroll the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Majors Dual Qualifications (By Coursework) program , the learner must possess one of the criteria below:

  • Learners must be over 24 years old;
  • A Master’s qualification in Majors from accredited universities; or
  • A Level 7 EQF diploma or equivalent. Level 7 Diploma must be from organizations that are authorized to issue qualifications and have been accredited.

English requirements:

If a learner is not from a predominantly English-speaking country, proof of English language proficiency must be provided.

  • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 or equivalent;
  • Or A minimum TOEFL score of 101 or IELTS 6.5; Reading and Writing must be at 6.5 or equivalent.
